Forward Jayde Reviere led a three-on-two counterattack that resulted in the first of three goals for the Michigan women’s soccer team against Maryland.

Haakenson sent a hard-hit ground ball right into Seppi’s hands, but the goaltender was unable to reel it in, setting up freshman forward Danielle Wolfe for an easy follow — tacking on the first goal in a 3-0 victory for No. 3 seed Michigan (13-4-1 overall, 8-2-1 Big Ten) over the sixth-seeded Terrapins (9-7-3, 5-5-1).

The pregame festivities ahead of Saturday’s friendly between FC Barcelona and SSC Napoli were vastly different than most tailgates at Michigan Stadium. International music echoed throughout the parking lots as people from all over the country prepared to see some of the world’s most talented soccer players.

But for the magnitude of the teams playing, the number of fans in attendance was a relatively mere 60,000, filling just over half of the seats at Michigan Stadium.

For the first time in his tenure as head coach of the Michigan football team, Jim Harbaugh has stability and depth at the quarterback and wide receiver positions. Michigan coach Juwan Howard is already giving offers to some of the nation's top recruits two months into his job.

On Monday, Michigan coach Juwan Howard sat at the front of four rectangular tables, pieced together to form a square. He invited Michigan basketball beat writers from around the area for lunch, his first interaction with media since his introductory press conference a month ago, hoping to break the ice well ahead of the season. Taking only a couple bites from his sandwich the entire time, he fielded questions, slightly reserved at first but opening up about his kids, favorite sports, and first impressions.

Michigan quarterback Shea Patterson will likely split snaps with Dylan McCaffrey this season.

CHICAGO — The day he transferred to Michigan, many assumed that Shea Patterson would win the starting quarterback spot. And he did, starting every game in his first season for the Wolverines.

Now, with a full season under his belt in addition to another offseason to understand the offense and develop chemistry with the receiving corps, Patterson seems primed to evolve into the quarterback pundits expected him to be when he came out of high school as a five-star recruit.

Carol Hutchins often touted the 2019 senior class as one of the best she’s ever had.

After falling out of the top-25 for the first time in a decade, the seniors took it upon themselves to right the ship. A 12-10 start was followed by a 31-1 record heading into the postseason, giving the Wolverines an opportunity to host a regional as the No. 15 seed.  And though Michigan fell to James Madison in the winner-takes-all game of the regional, Hutchins was effusive in her praise of her seniors.

Former Michigan guard Charles Matthews was deemed one of the top wing defenders in the draft before suffering an ACL injury.

Bilas had high praise for Poole and Brazdeikis and believes that both have shown enough to get drafted in the second half of the night. Though Poole seemed to show more promise with his shooting and ability to pass, Bilas admired Brazdeikis’ aggressive mindset. But regardless of each player’s pros, Bilas indicated that both are still raw talents that have a long way to go before becoming a staple in the NBA.

Michigan coach Juwan Howard had his introductory press conference on Thursday at the Crisler Center.

When Jimmy King came home from high school practice as a highly-touted recruit, he wasn’t just greeted by his mother but often another call from Juwan Howard.

With only one phone attached to a cord that stretched through the house, as King recalled, he would mouth to his mom the moment it rang.

“I’m not here, I’m not here,” King would tell her while she responded to Howard.
