The Michigan Daily featured on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart

BY IAN DILLINGHAM

Allison Farrand/Daily

A note on website comments

BY ANDREW WEINER

Over the last several weeks, the Daily’s editors have been considering the system for commenting on our website. Our goal is for the comment section of an article to be a forum for civil dialogue and a place to point out any inaccuracies. At its best, this goal is achieved and we see value in maintaining the system.

Increasing transparency at the Daily

BY JOSEPH LICHTERMAN

The Michigan Daily believes in transparency.

As journalists, we demand transparency from the people and organizations we cover. But we also demand transparency from ourselves. As we try to effectively cover the University and Ann Arbor, our readers also deserve to know what we, as a news organization, stand for.

An apology and explanation

BY JOSEPH LICHTERMAN

Truthfulness is the central tenet of everything we do at The Michigan Daily. By producing content in the Daily that is accurate and original, you, our readers, can be assured that the information you’re reading is trustworthy.

A column in the Nov. 17, 2011 edition of The Michigan Daily, written by a former Daily columnist, didn’t meet this standard.
