I don't care what it costs the number one priority should be winning. I need to see a ranked Wolverines before I graduate. Alumni-talk with your wallets and stop supporting mediocrity. We need to send a mandate to our administration that we came to this university and expect a top national football program. Take money from the fucking art department or whatever, I wanna see a win.
as usual, another feminist who thinks she has what it takes to run a tier 1 research university -
SUE. Maybe you should look at RR buyout and salary if you want to find waste Yeah you have REAL control!!!! Get real !!!! EX-Contributer
Go Blue
AD down RR and Sue to GO !!!!!!
Is the $10.3 million before or after the $2.5 million that the U paid WVU for RR's breech of contract settlement. Either way you look at it, it is a big chunk of the surplus (approx. 20% or 25%, depending on when deducted).
RR will have another 3 years on his contract with M, so a buyout would be some percentage of $7.5 million ($2.5X3 remaining years, assuming the total salary is factored). Adidas may opt out their contract, given all the negative publicity that the M program is receiving. Add that to the the loss of revenue from the vacant and outrageously priced sky-boxes at the M stadium + the loss of ticket sales (a record that RR will also own), and I do not see how the next AD will be able to sustain a surplus, especially after Nov 2010. On a related tangent, the Nike people did their homework better than Billy Martin when they opted not to over-bid the apparel contract with the U. I do not know if the M-Den is doing a better job at stocking the stores and keeping the shelves fully stocked, OR for whatever reason, the Adidas stuff is not moving.
" Add that to the the loss of revenue from the vacant...."
Last I saw, they have 75% of them sold already... outrageously priced, yes. vacant, not so much.
Well the adidas jersey's look like crap, that's the problem... You really have to try to mess up something as simple as the UM football jersey (the numbers look too small; the away jerseys are simply a knock-off of the previous Nike version)...
I have an idea about how to use some of that surplus. Buy out coach rodriguez and find someone who can at least win a few Big Ten games.
If the coaches have privately funded salaries, what are the other university presidents whining about? Clearly, it doesn't affect their funding.
RTFA, they don't want to cut more athletics.
