The first respondent is spot on about the "dynasty" column. Nevertheless, this story about the budding rivalry is very much on the money. Over the last few years, Miami has climbed from relative national afterthought to legit power, right up there with the Michigans and Michigan States of the CCHA. But what I find interesting is that UM and MSU continue to collect far more touted recruiting classes than Miami. Are the recruiting rankings off or is Miami coach Enrico Blasi really that good a coach? Maybe a little of both. Either way, this Miami grad is awfully proud of our burgeoning hockey program and I look forward to a tremendous series this weekend against perhaps the most storied program in college hockey history.
As a Miami fan who has followed the program closely for a number of years, I can honestly say that the "dynasty" comment was dismissed immediately by the fan base. The only place it ever comes up is on Michigan message boards, and now in the Michigan Daily. To state that it has "caught fire" in Oxford is laughable. You should try doing research in places other than internet message boards. Miami has a good program, and is well-positioned for future success. Do they have Michigan's hockey history? Of course not. Have they been just as good the last 5 years? Yes, they have. I'm not sure why you choose to dwell of one student's comment from a couple years ago, but it may be time to move on.
