I knew Mr. Koonce, and I just saw him 2 weeks ago. I am an MREACH student, that is where I first met MR. Koonce. He was a great man and he will be missed!!!!

I am a student In the MREACH program and I will miss Rob a lot. Rob was a great man who was always willing to help. When I needed somthing he always did the best he could to get it for me. Every one who had the oppertunity to meet him should consider themselves very lucky because he was a very great man!

Very sad news...Bubba was an institution at Union College, where I knew him. Everyone liked him and he was a class act. My thoughts are with his family...So sorry.

The faculty, staff, and students of the Ross School of Business will be holding a celebration of the life of Robert Koonce on Thursday, November 5, from 4-5:30pm in Blau Auditorium. This is located in the Ross School of Business building just off the main entrance on 701 Tappan Street. We invite all friends of Rob from inside and outside the University of Michigan to come and hear tributes and share stories. We will hear about Rob through stories told by people who were touched by his outgoing and caring personality. Immediately after the celebration, we will have a reception in the Davidson Winter Garden.

Also, a memory book will be in the Winter Garden from 9-4pm on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Please take the time to share your memories of Rob by signing this book. Feel free to bring photos or other items to add to the book. We will give this book to his wife when we have finished adding to it.

When i first heard the news I couldn't believe it, I was in absolute shock. Mr. Koonce will really be missed. He cared so much about MREACH and the students in it. AP will truly miss him, he did so much for our group and business. We often called him our granddad because he would always give us "tough LOVE". AP thoughts and Prayers are with his family as they go through this difficult time.

I played football with Bubba at Union. We remaind great friends through the years.I see everyone at UM refers to him as Rob.Here at Union he is Bubba. It makes me feel happy and proud to read all the wonderful comments from his family at UM.When I think of Bubba I laugh and that is a good thing. He had that effect on everyone here at Union.
Rest in peace big man and I will try to catch a fish and have a beer for you.

R.I.P. Mr. Koonce. You will be truly missed. I'm sure that I speak for all of us when I say that we will carry on your legacy with the same commitment to excellence and fairness as you did. Thank you for all of your support and my deepest symphathies to your family, friends, students, mentees, and anyone else who was touched by your kind spirit.

Rob loved talking about sports and participating in fantasy football and baseball. He loved gardening, and was particularly proud of his Koi pond. He was always eager to show off pictures of his pond and talk about all of the work he put into it. He enjoyed discussing genealogy, and would share stories about his relatives and ancestors. He liked reading about history, and would engage in conversations about the Vietnam War. Rob loved listening to Jazz music, and would make copies of cd’s for others who showed an interest in getting into Jazz.

I am very saddened to hear of the passing of Rob Koonce. He was my mentor my freshman year and he always made time out to meet with us and give us advice about making our time at Michigan count. He was a proud Alumna and cared so much about the students. Rest in peace and thank you for the words of wisdom you have imparted on my life and the lives of countless others.

Rest in peace, Rob Koonce ... you left a legacy that will be felt for generations to come. We miss you already.
