Kathy,
Many of your "salient points" are untrue and/or inaccurate.
1. The state budget was signed in by the governor, which means a $300 dollar cut per pupil starting in 30 days. She was not just bluffing. We need to cough up the money to pay for the quality education that Ann Arbor students get and deserve.
2. We only get just over $9,000 per pupil annually, but that has gone done an additional $500 this year. Also, we have had $16 million in cuts over the last 4 years.
3. We have a new high school in the district that was built because of over crowding. That takes money, which is why AAPS is spending more per year. Voters wanted the school, they built it, and now we have to pay for it and the students that go to all of the schools.
Also, you fail to mention that this millage helps schools outside of Ann Arbor, many of which are in dire need of funding. We are talking about the future of our children and the reputation of our community.
