Investments are nice -- when you can AFFORD them. I don't think people would object so strongly to this millage if they weren't struggling financially. Taxpayers are going to pay for the Washington bailout that did virtually nothing to help us. We're going to pay to fix Michigan's budget, sooner or later. Ann Arbor wants to impose a city income tax. A lot of us have seen our pay decrease over the years and the costs of healthcare are rising exponentially. It isn't fair to assume that everyone can afford an extra few hundred bucks a year in taxes because you can. A lot of people are on the verge of losing their jobs and homes right now. A jump in foreclosures or sustained decrease in consumer spending is also bad for our city and for our local businesses and home prices.
What can one say! Great perception as to the failure of the legislature not only to fund k-12 education but also our public universities.
