Haha how "Adorable" does this look now?
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h176/sn95joe84/Picture7.png

He does have "pinchable" cheeks. Poor little fella.

Adorable. You know what else is adorable? Your head coach...for MSU fans that is.

Lets see: 7-11 overall, 3-8 in Big Ten play, 1-6 on the road...oh and a combined 1-4 against your "rivals". Adorable indeed.

Oh, lets not forget RR's little fun practice story, about 25 transfers or quits since he took over, etc. etc.

Adorable.

You know what else is adorable? How Dantonio has kicked your ass twice already. How he took over a much more destructed program and has 12 more wins than your coach in only 14 more games. How he hasn't lost to Toledo. How he hasn't told his own fans to "get a life". That's adorable to me.

But yeah, keep pretending that the game doesn't matter. If recent success is your benchmark, I guess Ohio State/UM REALLY doesn't matter.

Arrogant asshole. Go hang out with your nasty ass four out of ten chicks. Go Green!!

i hop um gonna win this weak aganst da hawkeys cuz we needs to win a game somewheres not just in ann arbor
and cuz john l rodriguez need to shows he can getter done

Just wanna commend the author for his nice work on the article. The predictions were spot on (Forcier really made State his bitch huh?) and the fact that you are a MASSIVE douchebag just really came through in your diction and such. Quite frankly I'm just sorry you wasted your time writing such a piece of egotistical trash and sorry that I lost a few minutes of my life listening to such a whiny bitch who clearly gets overly defensive when he recognizes that MSU's athletic reputation is growing while Michigan tries to unearth their programs from the shitter. It's easy to live in the past though, so continue doing that, and please don't ever become one bit less arrogant because it just makes so many people feel great about themselves knowing how hard you have to work to feel like you mean something. By the way, I was at the game on saturday, and I saw a total of two good-looking girls in Michigan gear all day, and that's being generous. (now, unlike your cute little intro/anecdote about the two drunk msu fans, that's a stereotype that actually holds some truth)

Nice call on Braylon Edwards. If he's someone you use as an example, you may want to substitute someone else.

Karma is a bitch.

I have to say, this win by the Spartans was waaaaaaaaaaaaay sweeter after having read your column the Friday before the game. Looks like you're the one who got a noogie. I'm sure Michigan will bounce back in typical fashion, but your also-typical poor sportsmanship shows in your branding this "just another Big-10 game". I know, it's not really that big a deal. Except that, even if you win out, it'll probably ruin your chances at a Nat'l Championship, and may cost you a Big-10 title. Just another loss. Except that you've still got to get past some other pretty good teams. I predict Michigan finishes 8-4, though that will be a big improvement over 3-9. Enjoy.

Who's adorable now? Asshole. Not only did you completely embarrass yourself by writing that awful nonsense, your so called amazing freshman quarterback really did stomp all over our team. Oh wait..

Andy,
I don't what your student status is here at UMICH, but honestly, you embarrass this university more than anything with this article. I see you writing articles every so often, when I feel the need to read them, and they are usually nothing more than repeated words from interviews with coaches or players on how a team can achieve victory. This is nothing impressive, but in case I've been busy with my studies and haven't been able to watch weekly interviews on TV, I find it easy to just read articles from the Michigan Daily that would repeat exactly what I've missed.
This article, though, did nothing of the sort. From how I've grown up, you are correct that the best rivalry in the country is between two of the most distinguished football programs in the country. Even with that game always occurring at the end of our season, there has always been a rivalry between Michigan State and our school. It's true that it is nothing compared to what we have with Ohio State: Coaches, players, and history. On the other hand, there is always going to be a rivalry between our two schools. Each university has great history to back it up, as well as programs that are tops in the country.
You writing this article, gives off an impression of and arrogance that our university does not portray, nor should it. My grandparents went to UMICH, as did my parents, and now my older brother and myself. No one in my family, nor friends and acquaintances act with an superiority complex that your article seems to reek.
Not to mention, you use the example of Ms. Trisha Langlois, a student from a collection of over 40,000 strong, to show the level of support from students for their football team. After going here for four years, and now entering a masters program, I have seen countless students sell off tickets for games, and even for a season to make money. It's even easier for us, because our tickets sell at a higher price, and students can make even more for a single game.
Please stop embarrassing our school and newspaper with this type of article. Please continue writing your "ideas" for weekly victories, as they will not draw spite from all directions. I look forward to another article from you this week, hopefully full of sarcasm and humor towards Michigan State and how the victory means nothing because of the overall amount of victories we have over the team.
Until then, please enjoy the rest of the weekend and know that this embarrassment for the football team will not last long, but yours will surely continue if you write articles such as this in the future.

I am an MSU student, and I am glad there is someone at UM who isn't an arrogant dick (words which I use not as an insult, but fact, seeing as how readily Andy Reid basks in it) and actually has a sense of respect. I will admit, the MSU article was horrible in just about every regard, but this comment made me respect the UM student body far more than anything that Andy Reid said in his column. So thank you anonymous for doing a little to curb the stereotype only enforced by this article.

According to the Free Press, Rich Rod blamed the loss on lack of practice time.

Really? The Harvard of the midwest doesn't know that msu's nuclear physics program is #2? Umich nuke engineering and (radiologist certificate sciences) is #1, but that isn't physics.

Today was a very adorable performance. I will admit msu's defense is garbage. But what does that Umich offense today? Bio-degraded garbage?

Rich Rod is adorable.

Both of those articles were pretty lame. You guys really need to learn to be more witty.

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!?!?!?!? THIS. IS. SPARTA!

As a freshman I was devastated last year after our loss to MSCC. The texts from my State buddies on top of our despicable record really made me question why I didn't choose to go to State where I would have had four years to play with myself. But on my walk back to Markley Something happened that made me think otherwise. I came across some State Students who thought they were being really really clever by chanting that we were their "Little Sister". HOW ADORABLE! Their embarrassing display pretty much sums up the the average MSCC student, too simple minded to run with the logic that they are our little brother so we could be their older sister. The rest of my walk back was much more enjoyable

Well-written, however, you are wrong in at least one regard. Michigan State will win tomorrow.

Hey Andy, you can celebrate with your friends and fellow fans featured on this site:

Bishop looks like the older brother on 'Home Alone'

Buzz! Your girlfriend! Woof!

Anyone who doesn't think Andy is a good writer should read this: http://www.michigandaily.com/content/life-death-and-football-story-unlik...

It's possibly the best sports story I've ever read. If you write a story like this, you can get a job almost anywhere.

Playing for MSCC (Michigan State Community College) is like playing in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still "Special".

Just adorable!

Wow, little brother's article was pathetic. I guess that's the type of substandard work one can expect from Michigan State Community College.

Even if that particular article was lousy, pretending the Michigan Daily is on The State News' level is a joke.

"I know The Big House practically was The Out House last season, but that’s still no excuse to lose to Utah, Illinois, Toledo, Michigan State and Northwestern there. I think the last time we lost to that many teams there, Herbert Hoover was president or something. I was never that good at history."

Actually, George W. Bush was president. Michigan State lost 5 home games in 2006 (Notre Dame, Illinois, Ohio State, Purdue and Minnesota). Of course, they also lost to Michigan in the big house. 31-13.

Fail.

As poorly written as The State News article was, I believe you missed the point. Bishop was writing from UM's vantage point.

Comment Fail.

Ha do you really think you deserve to be arrogant majoring in LS&A at UMich? You're a journalism major. Your "studies" range from typing out a simple word, using the Word Thesaurus to change it and then using spell check and grammar check to make sure you don't write a completely useless article.

HAHAHAHA please go to the spartans website to read up on the comments made by MSU alum... plus you get to see what Bishop looks like....

http://www.statenews.com/index.php/article/2009/10/dear_diary_confession...

I'm a PhD student and also did my undergrad and master's here, so I've been reading the "dueling columns" before the UM-MSU football game for quite some time now. It seems to me that every year, the Michigan Daily writer assigned to the column gets more and more arrogant. They're not our real rivalry, they say. MSU is only good at basketball and hockey, they say. People only go there because they couldn't get in to Michigan, they say. (No, that's why you go to Ohio State.) This year, Andy Reid did pretty much that.
Now many times the State News' response to the Michigan column has been to call us on our arrogance, and justly so. Reid's column makes us look like classless, uppity, self-entitled windbags. I hope the Spartans know that we're not all like that! Unfortunately, they probably don't. They get a yearly dose of arrogance right before the game, and they can point to it as an example of how all Michigan fans must be.
This year I was pleasantly surprised to see that the State News writer didn't do that. I thought it was hilarious, even to me, a die-hard maize-and-blue fanatic. I appreciate his taking the high(er) road. I'm sure Rich Rod - I mean, "Name Redacted" - has his doubts about being able to beat MSU and I know many of us still have our doubts about him too.
We know what will happen: Either the "adorable" MSU fans will get an uplifting, improbable win and make Reid look like an idiot, or we beat them down again and they continue to gripe at our arrogance.
Either way, we lose. Thanks, Andy.

John,
Andy Reid's article isn't classless, it's accurate. It is well-written arrogance that is entirely warranted and acceptable during this time of the year. State's column is the least funny thing I have ever read in my entire life. It it neither tactful nor intimidating. The fact that you would consider that slop even remotely entertaining invalidates your opinion.
I think we're the ones that lose when people like yourself can consider themselves a Wolverine and yet clearly have no pride in their own school.

Fail.

No, John,

We're arrogant--and we love it.

STOP CALLING IT A RIVALRY!! 65-27-5? I think Michigan has graduated from the low level of having to call MSU a rival

Matt, are you really the SPORTS EDITOR?! Shit...I'm sorry Spartan fans. Oh and next time you write an article about Football....

TAKE SOME LESSONS FROM ANDY REID....an editor who really knows how to write.

P.S. In case you didn't realize...we were suppossed to talk about football not basketball. Way to spend a whole paragraph talking about Crisler. Way to go buddy, way to go.

LOL SPORTS

You guys are both idiots.

Yeah, that sucked. I expected to get pissed off by the Sparty article, but it was just, well, adorable. The idea of an entire article based around last season, completely ignoring how God-awful MSU is this year is so perfectly Little Brother.

The heated and yet playful exchange by school newspaper sports editors is difficult to judge just as is the winner of a mud wrestling contest. However, the MSU editor enjoys the legacy of being from a school whose origins included expertise in swine feeding troughs and the products of horse digestive systems so there may be a stronger gene pool for skill in splashing around and throwing mud aimless and baseless though it may be. It is inherent in the annual great divide exchanges that MSU affiliated fans will make statements which reinforce their probably unfairly exaggerated inferiority complex and weary quest for respect. The outcome of a single football game in 2009 will do little to advance their case nor diminish their ongoing need to plead for greater respect regardless of who wins. This recognition is their greatest source of agony. The exploits of Rison, Burris and Rogers have not helped much and that is unfair to the program that wishes to see itself above the possibility of misbehavior.

"The thing is I am smarter, better looking, physically stronger, and better liked than you are. I hope the publishing of this article serves as some sort of consolation for you."

You must be really hot, with all of those amazing qualities. If this is Matt Bishop, you are a downright liar, go eat some more donuts. But if not, shoot me a message with where your tailgate is, I want to meet the most amazing guy in the world.

toodles.

UM wins this year. It's not that it is great, but MSU's really sucked. Last year's went to MSU. BTW, if you're going to work in the newspaper industry, you're an idiot. That is a dying media.

Charlie Weis taught Matt Bishop the secret to staying thin.

A loss for MSU would go down in history as the worst day to be a couch.

See, here's the thing...the very arrogance you flaunt in this article is your biggest pitfall.

The Wall Street Journal has taken notice. Your sense of entitlement will prevent you from landing a job, making friends (as I'm sure it already has), and earning the respect of your peers.

It's pretty clear why the MSU journalism program is far more respected by industry professionals and the State News a more well regarded paper. This self -serving piece of useless drivel is an embarrassment to newspaper writers everywhere. I'm sure it felt nice to write though, almost as good as one of the 50+ times you probably masturbate every day.

The thing is I am smarter, better looking, physically stronger, and better liked than you are. I hope the publishing of this article serves as some sort of consolation for you.

If you stop by East Lansing this weekend, come by my tailgate. I will happily give you my shiniest nickel to buy a fucking clue.

I think this dude from state doesn't understand what a satirical article is, or the idea of the dueling UM/MSU articles on game week. Maybe if the MSU article didn't suck so bad we could actually take some of his "MSU journalism school is great!" as truth but the facts seem to point otherwise. GO BLUE!

"The Wall Street Journal has taken notice."

Huh? Did you just throw a random non-sequitur about the Wall Street Journal into your message to make yourself look smart and successful?

Not that I'm doubting your credentials or anything. People who brag (anonymously, of course) about how good looking and "strong" they are on the internet are almost always telling the truth. Why would you lie about something like that?

Last fall the WSJ wrote an article about UofM MBA's and how they piss off recruiters.

wow comparing his writing skills to masturbation. Really? thats just silly. oh little brother you amuse me so.

..."This self -serving piece of useless drivel is an embarrassment to newspaper writers everywhere."

Did you even read the MSU article? Oh guess not, you were too busy jumping to conclusions.

Bottom line:

A loss for MSU would be devastating. The season would be stamped as a big old "FAILURE" and with a 1-4 record including a loss to their biggest rival UM, you'd be able to smell the couches burning in East Lansing all the way from AA.

For UM, we're talking about a 4-1 record and bragging rights lost. Wake me up for the PSU game.

whoops didnt mean to post that 3 times, it kept telling me it was being sent to the spam box.

Check out how this article appears on the state news website. Not only does Bishop look like he was severely overfed as a child, even his fellow Sparty's(NO!) are ripping on him for writing the worst Michigan Week article of all time. I almost feel bad for him. http://www.statenews.com/index.php/article/2009/10/dear_diary_confession...
