Ride the Google Wave
By: Carolyn Klarecki
I am completely geeked over Google Wave. I'm also dissapointed to find that not many people have heard of it yet.
Here's the thing. It's hard to explain. Google is reinventing e-mail and instant messaging to make internet communication more collaborative and efficient — think e-mail combined with instant messaging combined with chat room forums, but in real time with the ability to edit anything, add photos and embed videos.
You can watch Google's hour-and-a-half long video like I did. Or you can watch this not-so-long Youtube video to get a better idea of what it's all about.
Even though Google Wave isn't going to be released for a couple months, the team is sending out invites to the general public to test the new system, file bug reports and offer feedback. And the tech-saavy world is jazzed. I've already sent out multiple requests for an invite.
Google Wave team, if you're reading this please give me an invite. I'll bake you a cake shaped like the internet.
