It seems as if the Michigan women’s basketball team is adding another to the roster.
According to her Twitter account, North Carolina point guard Shannon Smith is transferring to the Wolverines’ program.
On Tuesday, Smith posted two pictures from Michigan Stadium, tweeting “My new home!!!” and has also replied several times to followers, saying that she’s now at Michigan and thanking them for their congratulations on her choice to transfer.
Additionally, Smith confirmed that “it’s true” she will be transferring to Michigan, and tweeted on Thursday “Feeling the love from the U-M family already and I'm loving it!! So excited about the future!!!”
The Michigan Athletic Department could not confirm the news, but an ESPN recruiting analyst tweeted the report on Thursday.
Smith, who took a medical redshirt due to illness during her freshman campaign, averaged three points in her eight appearances during the 2011-12 season. She was North Carolina’s Miss Basketball in 2010 in addition to earning several accolades throughout her high school career.
